Full letter from school:
Dear C. H. Smart Parents/Guardians,
This afternoon a hand-written threat on a restroom wall was discovered.
We do not believe this threat was credible; however, we are treating it very seriously. We evacuated to Edgewood Country Club and buses are arriving to take students home, The Oakland County Sheriff Department has been dispatched to assess the school.
Please have a conversation with your student about the dangers of such threats and significant disruption and expenditure of valuable resources. In light of recent events, it is important for students to feel empowered to affect positive change so please encourage your student to share any relevant information in regard to this matter.
We are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of our students. The Oakland County Sheriff's department is working with us to execute our safety plan. We are hopeful we will identify the person or persons involved in writing this.
Please know that your children are safe and we will keep you apprised of any developments.
Sincerely,
Brian Kaplan
