When deputies arrived, they found a motorcycle had been struck and the two passengers were laying on the roadway.

Both motorcycle passengers were transferred to a hospital for treatment where one of them passed away, police said.

Police identified that victim as 49-year-old Dawn Lenker, of Sterling Heights.

Further investigations revealed another car that had been struck by the suspect, adding those passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect, who was driving a pickup truck, continued driving while pushing the motorcycle for a short distance before stopping near the Military Street Bridge.

Officers approached the driver, who appeared incoherent and tried to drive off.

Police say deputies on scene quickly realized the driver was experiencing a major medical episode, and transferred him to a local hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate the crash may have been caused by the severe medical episode experienced by the driver at the time of the crash.

The 37-year-old driver from Port Huron has been released pending further investigation.
