Dan Gilbert apologizes for 'tone deaf' Detroit ad

DETROIT – Detroit businessman Dan Gilbert is apologizing after a new ad on one of his Bedrock owned buildings came under scrutiny.

Over the weekend, Gilbert's property management company (Bedrock) debuted a new ad campaign on the windows of the Vinton building at Woodward and Congress.

The ad facing backlash had the text: "See Detroit Like We Do." The issue: mostly white people were in the photo beneath the text.

Detroit's population is predominately black and Latino.

The ad, shared above, quickly drew critics to Bedrock's Facebook page.

Gilbert issued the following statement:
