NEW YORK – NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino fathered a child out of wedlock with a former CBS Sports production assistant in 2005.

The New York Post reported that Marino, who is a current NFL analyst for CBS, fathered the daughter with former CBS Sports production assistant Donna Savattere.

This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then," Marino said in a statement. "We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved."

Marino has been married for 28 years to his wife, Claire, with whom he has four sons and two adopted daughters.

"My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together," Marino said. "And we continue to be a strong and loving family."

After the birth of Chloe, the Post reports Marino "agreed to pay millions" and Savattere moved from New York to Texas and keep their relationship and child a secret.

Marino has been a member of CBS' The NFL Today pregame show since 2003.
