Detroit police: Driver shot other driver after accident on west side

21-year-old man is in critical condition; shooter at-large

DETROIT – Detroit police said a 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot during a road rage incident Friday on the city's west side.

Police said he told officers he was traveling eastbound on McNichols Road near Ward Avenue when his pickup truck slid and accidentally side-swiped a van. The driver of the van started shooting at the man's pickup truck, striking him in the right arm, right side and left leg. He is in critical condition at Sinai-Grace Hospital.

The shooter fled the area in the van, which was described as burgundy in color. The shooter was described as a black man.
