ROMULUS, Mich. – Michigan State Police are investigating a driver's claim that her car was hit by a bullet on I-94.
An Ypsilanti woman drove to the state police Metro South post around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday after her vehicle was struck by something in the driver's side door while traveling on eastbound I-94 east of I-275 in Romulus.
She said she heard a popping sound and noticed a bullet hole in the door.
The woman was not injured.
State police shut down the highway for about an hour Wednesday morning. Troopers and K9 officers searched for evidence such as a shell casing. Nothing has been found.
State police said there is a bullet hole in the car door. However, no bullet was found in or outside of the vehicle.
There is no known connection to other shootings on I-96 and I-94 in Detroit.
