DETROIT – Officials are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash on I-96 in west Detroit.
The eastbound lanes of I-96 at Livernois Avenue reopened Tuesday morning after a closure due to a deadly rollover accident.
All eastbound lanes have reopened.
According to police, a vehicle was rear-ended and a third vehicle avoided the crash traveling up the embankment and overturning.The driver of the third vehicle was ejected and killed. The driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that initially caused the crash fled the scene, police said.
The freeway was closed for several hours for the accident investigation.
