Fire rips through shuttered Victory Inn motel on Michigan Avenue

Investigators say fire is suspicious

DETROIT – Firefighters battled flames Wednesday night inside the Victory Inn motel on the Detroit-Dearborn border.

Fire crews were seen on the roof of the motel attacking hot spots.

The motel on Michigan Avenue is closed after police agencies raided it in January in connection to a sex trafficking investigation.

The raid eventually led to three arrests as well as sex trafficking, drug distribution and conspiracy charges.

A fence was later put up around the motel after it was forced to close.

The fire is being called suspicious. Most of the damage is to the second floor. Firefighters cut holes in the roof to get to the flames.

The fire started about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
