Flood warnings for Wayne, Macomb Counties last until Monday

Wayne County flood warning lasts until Monday evening

DETROIT – The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for all of southeast Michigan that started at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday and lasts until 5 p.m. Sunday.

Macomb County is under a flood warning until Monday at 8:45 a.m. Wayne County is under a flood warning until 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The counties under a flood watch include:

  • Washtenaw County
  • Oakland County
  • Saint Clair County
  • Sanilac County
  • Livingston County
  • Monroe County
  • Lapeer County
  • Lenawee County
  • Genesee County

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday night and Sunday. Weekend rainfall totals by Sunday evening are expected to range from 1-3 inches, with higher amounts possible.

Rainfall totals greater than two inches bring the threat of flooding. Thunderstorms in metro Detroit Saturday could produce torrential downpours.

Detroit drivers must stay alert for ponding on roads and highways and low visibility. As always, "Turn Around, Don't Drown" is the motto for finding an alternate route to avoid any standing water.
