LUNA PIER, Mich. – A suicidal armed man who led police on a chase Thursday morning from Oakland County to Monroe County is now barricaded inside a vehicle on southbound I-75 near the Michigan-Ohio border.

Michigan State Police said both directions of I-75 between South Otter Creek and Luna Pier Road will remained closed until the man surrenders. Police said the 37-year-old man is armed and has made threats to officers and himself.
He was streaming live on Facebook talking about how he would kill officers or himself. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies originally responded to a 911 call about a suicidal man in Pontiac. Deputies found the man driving and tried to stop him. He fled and led them on a chase south on I-75. Michigan State Police vehicles joined the chase at Gibraltar Road and continued south into Monroe County.

The man's vehicle was disabled by police on southbound I-75 near Gaynier Road, where he has been in a standoff with officers for hours Thursday morning. Police have shut down a stretch of northbound I-75, too, as a safety precaution.
State police said they are working to reach a peaceful resolution. They are actively seeking felony charges against the man.
"We're trying to negotiate his peaceful surrender," state police said. "We're here to help him, not to hurt him."
