LOS ANGELES – Kobe Bryant was among nine people killed Sunday when his private helicopter crashed.

The crash occurred just before 10 a.m.
The FAA confirmed the helicopter crashed near Calabasas, California, about 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter was also killed in the crash.
The sheriff’s department said 9 people were on board. Bryant was reportedly on his way to a practice at Mamba Sports Academy when the helicopter crashed.
Officials with held a press conference on the crash. They did not identify the victims of the crash as the crash was under investigation. Names will be released after the autopsies are completed and the families are notified.
Bryant was an 18-time NBA All-Star who won five championships and became one of the greatest basketball players of his generation during a 20-year career. He was the son of former Philadelphia 76ers player Joe Bryant.
In 1999, the Kobe Bryant was almost traded to the Detroit Pistons for Grant Hill.
The investigation is ongoing.
