Detroit police cruiser hits 16-year-old boy on bicycle, police say

A 16-year-old boy was struck by a Detroit police cruiser on Sept. 5, 2020. (WDIV)

DETROIT – A police scout car struck a 16-year-old boy on a bicycle in Detroit Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, police were responding to a assist officers on a domestic violence call when they struck the boy on Livernois Avenue, near Otis Street.

The boy was taken to a hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police said the car had its lights and sirens on at the time and its officers were not injured.
