2 killed in crash after car crosses centerline of 23 Mile Road

Road was closed for several hours Wednesday night

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are investigating a crash that killed two people and injured another in Macomb County.

According to authorities, the collision happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V lost control on the westbound lanes of 23 Mile Road and drove into the eastbound lanes, striking a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500.

Police said the driver of the Cadillac, 21-year-old David Vasilevski, and its only passenger, 22-year-old Ashley Machuta, were declared dead at the scene.

The only occupant of the Dodge was a 19-year-old man from Macomb Township, who was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police said it is unknown if speeding or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
