DETROIT – Three people have been killed in a crash early Monday morning in eastbound lanes of I-94 at Chalmers Street in Detroit.
The crash happened before 2 a.m. The freeway was closed for several hours for an investigation.
According to Michigan State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Camaro was speeding when it hit a Mercury SUV. The Camaro had a 39-year-old man behind wheel and a 38-year-old woman passenger. The Mercury had a 61-year-old driver.
All three people involved were transported to the hospital where they died.
State police report excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this crash.
