SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot Sunday evening at an apartment complex on 12 Mile Road in Southfield.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Sunday at the 12 North Apartments on 12 Mile Road between Northwestern Highway and Telegraph Road. The girl was shot in her head and has undergone surgery. She remained in critical condition as of Monday morning.
Police said a 20-year-old sibling of the girl has been taken into custody. A case is expected to be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.
