Police said her 20-year-old sibling is the one who shot her. Other people who live in the apartment building where the incident happened said they are still in disbelief.
The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Sunday at the 12 North Apartments on 12 Mile Road between Northwestern Highway and Telegraph Road.

“It’s a heartbreaking tragedy,” resident Darrell Summersville said.
A man who asked to be identified as Ross said he came across the suspect in the building’s lobby.
“Something was going on. I say, ‘Hey, man. Is everything alright?’ Sounded like he said something in Spanish. I couldn’t quite get it,” Ross said.
Ross said as soon as the police arrived on the scene, the 20-year-old turned around and retreated back upstairs.
“He ran into the elevator and right when the doors closed, two cops came in saying,’ Where did he go?’ I just said, ‘Upstairs.’ And then the mother came down with an officer and she was pretty messed up about it,” Ross said.
Police are still investigating the incident.
“It could have been a domestic dispute. It could have been an accident. We don’t know. Firearms go off all the time if you’re not taking care of them properly. So, I’m not quite sure what was going on. But it’s certainly tragic,” Ross said.
The suspect is expected to be charged on Tuesday.
