WARREN, Mich. – Devin Sherrell was killed months ago at his home on LaSalle Boulevard in Warren.
As of Wednesday, no arrest has been made.
The past few months have been extremely hard on Sherrell’s family, especially his mother, who wants answers.
“I don’t understand why they took him away from me,” said Sherrell’s mother, Christine Goss. “He would not hurt anybody. He’s a loving person.”

Police are calling the murder a set up. On Sept. 29, there was a knock on Sherrell’s door from a man telling him that kids were breaking into his vehicle. As soon as Sherrell ran outside, he was shot multiple times and died in his driveway. The shooter then fled the scene.
Sherrell’s girlfriend LaPorsha Smith was also home.
“It’s scary. We don’t know who did it. They could be walking right past us and we just wouldn’t know,” Smith said.
The case has turned cold with investigators not yet able to make an arrest. But Smith and Goss want some closure on what happened to their loved one.
“We need to know what happened to my baby. Why did he have to go through this? Why do his kids have to suffer? Why does his family have to suffer,” Goss said.
Police now have a description on the person they believe to be the shooter. He is described as a 30-year-old man driving around in a silver Chevy Malibu, possibly a 2015 model.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to leave a tip by calling at 586-574-4790.
