Royal Oak police say woman was drunk when she crashed with 9-year-old child, open beer in car

ROYAL OAK, Mich.Royal Oak police said a mother was drunk and slurring her speech after crashing into another vehicle with her 9-year-old child and an open beer in the car.

Officers were called Thursday to a two-car crash at Stephenson Highway and Lincoln Avenue in Royal Oak, authorities said.

When police arrived, they found the 33-year-old Roseville woman who crashed into the back of another vehicle smelled of intoxicants and was slurring her speech, police said.

She had an open beer inside her vehicle, as well as her 9-year-old child in the back seat, according to officials.

Police said the took the woman into custody for operating under the influence, child endangerment and open alcohol.
