Deadly tornado wiped out two Michigan cities 125 years ago

It was an average spring day in Michigan but a killer twister was about to make state history.

More than a century ago, a deadly F5 tornado moved across northern Oakland County and literally wiped two towns off the map. Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., Local 4 Meteorologist Paul Gross takes you inside the harrowing story and shows you the shocking aftermath.

It was one of only four F5 tornadoes ever to hit Michigan, and is still the state’s second deadliest tornado. It totally ravaged parts of southeast Michigan. Tuesday morning on Local 4 News Today, you’ll get a sobering look back at that evening of terror.
