His family are still demanding answers two years later. The driver that ran him over and the woman passenger have never been identified.

Patterson’s loved ones spoke out in hopes of breathing new life into the case. They said they’re afraid for their own safety.

His girlfriend spoke with Local 4, but did not want to be identified because the people who killed Patterson are still out there.

“He should not have died the way he did,” she said.

“I want them to catch him,” said his mother, Ella Mae Patterson.

Horland “Darnell” Patterson exchanged words inside 8 Mile Grill Coney Island, located on Eight Mile Road, west of Livernois Avenue. The man and woman waited outside the restaurant in their truck for Patterson to walk out. When he did, the driver turned the truck’s lights off and ran over him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
