Witnesses said the vehicle was in the left lane when a tire came off, causing the vehicle to veer to the right.

The 28-year-old driver tried to regain control, but the vehicle struck the median, causing it to roll over, authorities said.

Officials said the driver didn’t have a seat belt on and was ejected from the vehicle.

A 7-year-old passenger was wearing a seat belt, police said. The child was not injured.

The driver and the child were taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, according to officials. Police said the driver is in critical condition.
