DETROIT – One person was killed and another was badly injured when a stolen Dodge Challenger crashed into another vehicle and a tree on Detroit’s west side, police said.

The crash happened at 12:06 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 21) at Fenkell Avenue and Lindsay Street in Detroit, authorities said.

Two people were inside the stolen Challenger when it bumped into another vehicle at a high speed, according to officials.

Police said the impact caused the driver to lose control of the Challenger, and it struck a tree.

The passenger, a man who appears to be in his 20s, was killed, according to authorities.

The 16-year-old driver is in critical condition, officials said.

Police said the other vehicle left the scene of the crash.
