Students at Romeo High School love and befriended Carson Krawczyk, a senior who has autism. His classmates made it their mission to ensure his senior year went out with a bang: as homecoming king.

Rochester Hills woman crashes stolen Jeep full of empty beer, wine bottles into house, police say

A Rochester Hills woman hugged a stair guardrail to try to avoid arrest after she stole her parents’ Jeep, crashed it into a neighbor’s house and was found surrounded by empty beer and wine bottles, authorities said.

Canada updates pandemic travel restrictions ahead of U.S. border reopening

As the United States prepares to reopen its land borders to fully vaccinated foreign tourists on Nov. 8, Canada has updated its pandemic travel guidance.

On Thursday the Canadian government pulled back its guidance against nonessential travel, for the first time since March 2020, and now says travelers should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before departing the country.

370 Beaumont Health workers suspended for not getting vaccine by deadline; 70 others resign

More than 300 Beaumont Health employees are now suspended after not getting the COVID vaccine by Monday’s deadline. Seventy other employees voluntarily resigned because they did not want to get vaccinated.

COVID in Michigan 🦠

Michigan reported 7,108 new cases of COVID-19 and 135 virus-related deaths Wednesday -- an average of 3,554 cases over a two-day period. Of the 135 deaths announced Wednesday, 78 were identified during a review of records.

Wednesday’s update brings the total number of confirmed COVID cases in Michigan to 1,097,129, including 21,744 deaths. These numbers are up from 1,090,021 cases and 21,609 deaths, as of Monday. The next update is expected today.
