1 person killed when SUV hits tree, catches on fire in Detroit, police say

DETROIT – One person was killed overnight when an SUV crashed into a tree and caught on fire in Detroit, officials said.

The crash happened at 11:47 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 14) at 8 Mile Road and Klinger Street, according to authorities.

A 2002 Ford Explorer struck a tree, causing it to catch on fire, officials said.

Detroit police said this was a single-car crash. They have not identified the victim due to burns.
