Oakland County deputies said neighbors had removed the man from the vehicle to perform CPR. Paramedics arrived and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he died from a gunshot wound to his right rib cage/abdomen area, according to authorities.
Police said three people had been observed at the man’s open door in the parking lot. One of them shot the 22-year-old with a handgun while he tried to drive away, officials said.
The man’s vehicle struck multiple other vehicles in the parking lot before coming to rest, authorities said.
One of the three suspects has been identified as the shooter, according to detectives. Police are searching for him in connection with the murder.
Deputies said this shooting is not connected to a recent string of drive-by shootings, but is believed to be drug-related.
