The high school entered temporary lockdown on the morning of April 1 after a parent and student reported that another student had a firearm on school grounds, Chippewa Valley Schools Superintendent Ron Roberts wrote to the community Friday. School administrators called police right away and placed the school under lockdown as a precautionary measure, officials said.
Police responded to the report and removed the student without incident, Roberts said. The student is currently in police custody, though it is unclear if they will face any charges.
Officers recovered a gun from the school during their initial investigation. Clinton Township Police said that nobody was hurt and that no one was in harm’s way amid the lockdown.
The high school students will be released as scheduled, police said. The students are said to have a half-day of school.
No other details have been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
