WARREN, Mich. – Police say a woman has been shot several times after an incident early Friday morning at a gas station in Warren.
UPDATE: 3 arrested in carjacking, shooting at Warren gas station, police say
According to Warren police, the shooting occurred at a gas station on 8 Mile Road near Van Dyke Avenue. Sources tell Local 4 that a woman was shot several times and is now in critical condition.
The 38-year-old woman was at the gas station at about 3 a.m. when a white Yukon pulled up behind her vehicle, officials said. A person reportedly exited the Yukon, walked over to the woman’s vehicle -- a Nissan Altima -- and shot her several times.
Officials say the woman somehow exited the vehicle, though it’s unclear if she got out or was pulled out. Her vehicle was then stolen. The Yukon also pulled away from the gas station, so at least two individuals were involved in the carjacking.
The woman was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition.
It is unclear if the woman was targeted specifically, or if this was a random carjacking. Investigators say they are leaning toward believing this was a targeted carjacking.
No other details have been shared at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Warren police.
