DETROIT – A Detroit mother is hoping clues about her 6-month-old’s 2016 murder will help bring her closure.
Jennifer Murray’s daughter, Miracle, was in her stroller with the rest of her family at their home off of Winthrop Street the afternoon of April 16, 2016. That’s when gunfire erupted during the family’s quality time and caused the family to panic. The shots were fired by a man wearing a hoodie tied all the way up so you couldn’t see his face, officials said.
Miracle was struck in the back by a bullet and passed away in her mother’s arms.
Murray says that the person who fired those fatal shots was never found.

Murray told Local 4 back in 2016 that she has no idea who the gunman was, but she thinks the shooting might have been in retaliation for a shooting on Easter morning that killed 3-year-old Anaiya Montgomery. Murray’s son, Reginald Street, is charged in the shooting.
Former U.S. Attorney Matthew J. Schneider says, “What this is about is innocent people getting caught in the crossfire and gang members and children getting murdered. That is the problem with gang violence.”

Murray says that it is now time that the killer of her daughter is held accountable.
Two people are in custody in connection with Miracle’s shooting. Police have released a sketch of a third man whom they are looking for.
