DRYDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 39-year-old woman is the “lone suspect” in a Lapeer County mobile home fire that left four dead, including the suspect.
Police said evidence gathered so far indicates the fatal fire was started intentionally by Candice Turton, 39. The case is being investigated as an arson, suicide and homicide.

Authorities received a call about the fire at 5:07 a.m. March 21 in the 3700 block of Pleasant Lane. The structure was inside the Victoria Meadows mobile home community in Dryden Township.
Officers said when they arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters discovered the bodies of four people in the remains of the home after putting out the flames.
The victims have been identified as 87-year-old Zola Rogers, 17-year-old Nathan Young, 15-year-old Kylie Young and Turton.

“From the moment this incident started on the early morning hours of that day, the Dryden Township Police Department has been working towards two goals. Our first goal was to ensure the safety of our community and its residents. The second goal is to determine and uncover the facts of what occurred leading to the death of four family members. The deceased persons have all been identified by the Lapeer County Medical Examiner’s Office (Michigan Institute of Forensic Science and Medicine),” police said in a press release.
The investigation is still active and ongoing. Investigators are waiting on final reports from assisting agencies and lab analysis reports. Michigan State Police, Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit and the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office have assisted in the investigation.
Police said there is no current threat to the public and no known suspects are at large.
