FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The wanted fugitive who escaped from police in Ohio and then stole an SUV in Bedford Township was arrested overnight when officials pulled him over in a U-Haul, they said.
Monroe County deputies were called around 7:10 a.m. April 14 to the industrial area near Sterns and Crabb roads in Bedford Township for a reported sighting of Christopher Michael Eldredge, 35.

Eldredge had escaped police custody on April 9 in Wood County, Ohio.
Officials in Monroe County said they received a report of a suspicious person in the vestibule of a business. The man entered the break room, changed his clothes and stole a blue 2016 Ford Escape from the parking lot, according to police.
He fled the scene before deputies arrived.
At 3:38 a.m. Friday (April 22), a deputy pulled over a U-Haul in the area of North Dixie Highway and I-75 in Frenchtown Township.
Officials said Eldredge was the only person inside the rental vehicle, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Eldredge is being held at the Monroe County Jail, pending extradition to Ohio on charges for escaping police custody.
