Remains of young woman still unidentified 21 years after she was found in Detroit

She was not recognizable due to injuries to her face

DETROIT – The remains of a woman believed to be between 13 and 24 years old were found in a wooded area in Detroit 21 years ago. She has never been identified.

Her remains were found on June 20, 2001. Officials said they believed she died in 2000 or 2001. She had injuries to her face and was not recognizable.

She is estimated to have been 5′8′' tall and weighed 189 lbs. She had blonde/strawberry or brownish/blonde fine, wavy and long hair. She may have been obese related to an endocrine imbalance.
