No one wins Mega Millions jackpot in Tuesday’s drawing; prize now over $1 billion

DETROIT – The Mega Millions jackpot climbed all the way to $830 million Tuesday night -- but it looks like no one was lucky enough to snag it.

If a player won the jackpot in Tuesday night’s drawing, it would have been the largest Mega Millions jackpot won this year and the fourth-largest ever. The cash option for Tuesday’s jackpot was $487.9 million.

No winning ticket was sold for the Mega Millions as of Tuesday night’s drawing. The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $1.02 billion and will likely continue to grow ahead of Friday’s drawing.

The jackpot has gotten so big because no one has matched the game’s six selected numbers since April 15.

Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday night. Each play is $2 and you can add the “Megaplier” for another $1. The “Megaplier” can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

Tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They can be purchased until 10:45 p.m. the day of the drawing.

How to play Mega Millions lottery?

Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday.

It costs $2 for a ticket and for an additional $1 you can add a “Megaplier” that will multiple non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in Michigan and 44 other states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets can be purchased online through the Michigan Lottery and at various stores.

How many numbers do you have to match?

To win the jackpot you have to match all five numbers and the gold Mega Ball.
