A Girl Named Egypt has been a different flavor over the years, starting as a double white IPA to this year being a fruited tart ale.

This year’s version is brewed with pink guava and lemongrass. The brewery wrote on Instagram that the beer has botanical and fruit notes similar to the original recipe.

The brew pays tribute to Egypt Covington, a Van Buren Township woman who was murdered in 2017. The mission of the craft beer is to raise money for charities that support issues that were important to Covington. Proceeds from the sale of the ale will be donated towards music scholarships, animal welfare and victims of domestic abuse.

According to Arbor Brewing Company’s website, six-packs can be found at Livonia Liquor and fine Wine and TJ’s Market.

Covington’s murder remains unsolved.
