It’s presented by the Somerset Collecon, Michigan Center for Ferlity and Women’s Health, Archoke Garlic Foundaon, and Moran & Company, and hosted by Mitch Albom, founder of SAY Detroit.

The fundraiser will feature 23 participating restaurants in walkable areas around Detroit, including Corktown. The experience is inspired by Chef Jose Andres’s “Dine ‘n Dash’’ in Washington, D.C. The first ever EAT Detroit experience was held in June 2019, but postponed because of the COVID pandemic.

“We are thrilled to bring back this iconic event aer a long absence,” Albom said. “The overwhelming response to EAT in 2019 is very much evident with this year’s event. Detroit’s culinary scene is one-of-a-kind and I’m glad people will get a chance to combine a great night of eang while helping Detroit’s neediest cizens.”

Here’s how EAT Detroit works

Guests can purchase a VIP or general admission ticket. They will receive a wristband that allows them to dine and dash at the restaurants.

Each participating restaurant offers a sampling of three menu items and a signature drink. A shuttle system links the tour together and patrons can ride for free.

There will be live music at many of the restaurants. VIP events begin at a pre-event reception at the Shinola Hotel at 5 p.m. and it features the food of San Morello and the music of Alexander Zonjic. A VIP dessert will be held at The Whitney at 9 p.m.

General admission ticket holders can participate in the tour from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
