DETROIT – Santos Church in Southwest Detroit has been targeted three times in the past two weeks.
On Tuesday night, the air condition units on the century-old building were ripped from the roof and destroyed.
“It’s very discouraging, not just for myself but for the people who go here because to them that’s a sign of how safe is the area that I’m in,” said Santos Church pastor Rich Colon.
Colon and the rest of the church have been making efforts to create a safe space for both worshipers and neighbors.
The pastor said that whoever destroyed the air condition units collected shipping pallets and made a makeshift ladder to get over the church’s fence and onto the roof.
According to the pastor, the dollar store next door was also targeted Tuesday night.
