85-year-old man pleads for help after massive tree lands on home on Detroit’s west side

Removing the massive oak tree from his house will take numerous cranes

DETROIT – An 85-year-old homeowner pleads for help after Monday’s storm left a massive oak tree on his home on Detroit’s west side.

Monday’s storms impacted nearly all of Metro Detroit, causing damage all over the area and leaving many homes and businesses without power.

The senior citizen’s home is on Lilac Street near Livernois and the Lodge Freeway.

His family tells Local 4 that he has dementia and lives alone as his wife passed away a few years ago, and his granddaughter is on the road to recovery after being shot a few months back.

Removing the massive oak tree from his house will take numerous cranes, which is why he was quoted between $7,000 and $8,000 for the removal. A GoFundMe was setup here.
