Ford invites Mustang owners to ‘Stampede’ in Downtown Detroit

‘It will literally be arguably the best traffic jam in Detroit, definitely this year that people will be happy about’

FERNDALE, Mich. – It’s been almost four years since the last Auto Show was held in Detroit, and now it’s finally back this month with the luxury of nice Michigan September weather.

Imagine more than 1000 Ford Mustangs making their way from the Ford World Headquarters to Downtown Detroit.

It’s something Ford is organizing leading up to this year’s Auto Show, and the fun doesn’t stop with the cars.

“We’re excited that the outdoor vision of the Auto Show is coming to life,” said Ford Enthusiast Communications Manager Jiyan Cadiz.

They’re calling it the stampede; Anyone with a Mustang is invited to register to participate on Sept. 14 in a celebration of one of the most popular sports cars in the world.

“It will literally be arguably the best traffic jam in Detroit, definitely this year that people will be happy about,” Cadiz said. “At the same time, the visual of it will be truly impressive as we leave around 5:30 from Wealth World Headquarters with the full motorcade convoy making our way through Detroit and into the heart of downtown.”

A preview of the event took place at the Ferndale Project in Ferndale, but the real party will be at the stampede destination Hart Plaza where Ford will unveil the all-new seventh-generation Mustang.

But the event will celebrate every decade of the car’s existence.

“One of the great things about Mustang is its appeal across generations, and across different types, different demographics of people,” Cadiz said.

They’re also asking Mustang fans to dress up in attire that represents their favorite period of the Mustang.

“There’s so much that Mustang has brought across TV, radio, movies, you name it that we know some favorite characters will make their way that night,” Cadiz said.

Judges will pick two finalists from each decade, giving 12 people the chance to get a two-year lease of the all-new Ford GT.
