DETROIT – A Michigan State Police trooper is in critical condition after being shot overnight in Detroit, officials said.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 27) in the 14000 block of Riverview Street on the city’s west side.

An undercover narcotics officer was in the area when shots were fired by an unknown person. The trooper was struck by gunfire.
He’s in critical condition at a nearby hospital, according to authorities.
Members of the MSP Emergency Support Team are trying to identify suspects inside a building from which the shots might have been fired, they said. Residents are being moved out of the apartment complex, and police are seeking search warrants.
Everyone is asked to avoid the area as police continue to search for the gunman. Residents are asked to stay inside, unless contacted by police.
