DETROIT – A shot was fired Tuesday night in Detroit after a man followed a car that had rear-ended him on I-94 and pulled up alongside that car to yell at the driver, police said.

A driver called police and said he had been rear-ended by another vehicle. The driver who struck him fled the scene, so the man followed, according to authorities.

When the man caught up to the other driver, he took a photo of the vehicle’s license plate and then pulled up alongside it, officials said.

The man started to yell at the at-fault driver to pull over when the at-fault driver pulled out a gun and fired a shot that struck the front passenger door of the other car, according to police.

Nobody was injured in the shooting. The at-fault driver fled the scene.

Officials continue to investigate.
