FARMINGTON, Mich. – A Farmington Hills man has been charged with trying to murder another man outside a Farmington home, officials said.
Police received a call at 8:16 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 1) from a resident in the 33200 block of Slocum Street, near Grand River Avenue and Farmington Road.

Officers had been sent to the location to speak with a man who told them a tire on his pickup truck had been intentionally slashed. Four minutes after the man hung up with dispatchers, he called back to say he had been shot, according to authorities.
Police found the shooting victim lying next to his truck. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills in critical condition.
Matthew Miquel Jones, 40, of Farmington Hills, is accused of firing seven shots at the homeowner before fleeing the scene. He was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Jones was arraigned in 47th District Court, and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. Bond was set at $1 million, cash/surety.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 16.
Farmington police are asking for the public’s help in determining the relationship between Jones and a silver Ford Fusion that was linked to the shooting. The Fusion had heavily tinted windows on the sides and back, but no license plate.
