$2 billion Powerball jackpot ticket sold in California; $1 million winning ticket sold in Michigan

Someone in Michigan has a Powerball ticket worth $1 million

After a lengthy delay, lottery officials announced the winning Powerball numbers for the Nov. 7, 2022, drawing and one person matched all the winning numbers.

The winning ticket was sold in California. The winner gets the $2.04 billion grand prize, and if they take the cash payout they’ll get an estimated $997.6 million lump sum.

Don’t throw away your tickets just yet though. Someone in Michigan has a ticket worth $1 million after they matched five numbers.

The Powerball drawing was scheduled for 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, but it was delayed due a lottery needing more time to complete security protocols.

“Powerball has stringent security requirements to protect the integrity of the game and remains committed to holding a drawing that gives all players a fair chance to win,” the Multi-State Lottery Association said.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play.

Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Jackpot winners can choose to receive their prize asn an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment. Both advertised prize options are before federal and jurisdictional taxes.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
