On Feb. 4, around 2:30 a.m., a 30-year-old driver picked up three unknown men and one woman. During the ride, one of the riders placed an object around the driver’s neck and attempted to strangle her. The woman driver was demanded out of her 2018 gray Ford Focus, and the riders fled the area.

Six days after the Feb. 4 incident, another carjacking occurred in the Dexter and Linwood neighborhood. A 40-year-old driver picked up three men and two women. During the drive, one of the riders attempted to strangle the driver. Another rider exited the 2021 white Toyota Venza they were in, pointed a weapon at the driver, and demanded the car. The suspects fled the scene in the Toyota.

Then on Feb. 12, around 2 a.m., a 58-year-old driver picked up two men. During the Lyft trip, one of the riders placed an object around the driver’s neck. The white 2017 Chevy Malibu driver fought off the riders, who fled the scene on foot.

Officials say that all vehicles were recovered, but there is a person of interest that detectives would like to speak with.

Below is a man who attempted to use one of the driver’s credit cards shortly after a carjacking. During the attempted transaction, the man wore a black hooded sweatshirt, puffy black jacket, black pants with white stripes, tan tennis shoes and a multi-colored “Jordan” backpack.
