EAST LANSING, Mich. – Police provided a post-midnight update on the active shooter situation that left at least three dead and five injured at Michigan State University.

Interim Deputy Michigan State University Police Chief Chris Rozman said during his 11 p.m. update that the first 911 calls came in at 8:18 p.m. Monday from people at Berkey Hall.
Several shooting victims were found at the scene.
Police then learned of a second shooting scene at the Michigan State University Student Union. Officers also tended to injured people there, they said.
“I can confirm that there were at least five victims,” Rozman said. “All five victims were transported to the hospital. Some of those victims do have life-threatening injuries.”
Shortly after the briefing, police confirmed three people have been killed in addition to the five who are injured.
Rozman confirmed during the second update that the suspected shooter killed himself. Police don’t believe there’s any further danger to the community.
All campus activities at Michigan State are canceled for the next 48 hours, police announced around 10:45 p.m. Monday. That includes classes, sporting events, and all other campus-related activities.
