EAST LANSING, Mich. – A protocol is in the works at Michigan State University for students who left their belongings in Berkey Hall and the MSU Union during the mass shooting that occurred on Feb. 13.
Officials say a 43-year-old man opened fire on Michigan State University’s campus on Monday around 8 p.m.

Police said many students left their belongings behind on campus as they were told to “run, hide, fight.”
Michigan State Police and Public Safety tweeted on Tuesday that several personal belongings were left in Berkey Hall and the MSU Union, where the two shootings occurred. The department stated in its tweet that they are beginning to coordinate a protocol to get those items returned to their owners.

Police say that three Michigan State University students are dead, and five others are hospitalized after the mass shooting on campus.
The identities of those killed and injured have not yet been released. Michigan State University police expect to release more information about those killed in the shooting sometime on Tuesday.
The suspected shooter, identified as Anthony McRae, has no ties to Michigan State University and was located by police in Lansing on Monday night. He reportedly shot and killed himself at that scene.
