The American Heart Association is hosting its Metro Detroit Heart Walk Rally Day on Wednesday to fundraise and encourage registration for this summer’s Heart Walk.
This year, Rally Day falls on National Walking Day, which is fitting because the AHA is challenging 1,000 walkers to participate in this year’s Metro Detroit Heart Walk. To make things even more interesting, KeyBank will be matching up to $50,000 in donations made online.
Rally Day is hosted every year to encourage participation and fundraise for the Metro Detroit Heart and Stroke Walk and 5K. This year, the fundraising day falls on Wednesday, April 5. There will be two locations available for walkers to participate: one in Troy and one in Wyandotte.
If you head to Troy for Rally Day, you can expect to walk around the HAP Troy Building for about 45 minutes. After the walk, there will be food trucks available and a raffle for anyone who signs up for the Heart Walk. The food trucks will be donating a portion of their profits to the Heart Walk. Raffle winners will receive two suite tickets to a Detroit Tigers game.
Participants in Troy should arrive at 11 a.m. at the HAP building located at 1414 East Maple Road.
In Wyandotte, Henry Ford Health team members will be participating in the walk. There will be a sign up table with information on the Heart Walk in the lobby. A garage sale will also be going on during the Rally Day walk.
The Wyandotte event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Henry Ford Health Wyandotte located at 2333 Biddle Road.
The 2023 Metro Detroit Heart and Stroke Walk and 5K is scheduled for Saturday, June 3. For more information, to register for the Heart Walk or to donate, click here to visit the Heart Walk website.
