1 person injured in possible townhouse explosion in Mount Clemens

Police are talking with another person that may be involved

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – One person was taken to the hospital after a possible explosion of a townhouse in Mount Clemens.

The explosion occurred Wednesday (April 5) at 9:05 p.m. on Mark Street at the North Rose Townhouses near M-59 and Elizabeth by the Macomb County Jail.

Windows, siding, and bricks have been blown off the unit.

Multiple fire departments are on the scene, and Local 4 is told two people ran out of the building.

“I was in the house sitting down watching TV, and I just heard this big ol’ boom,” said a woman. “And the whole house just shook. Then my son comes running downs saying, ‘What is it?’” I said, ‘It was the tornado,’ but he said no, it was something else, so he came outside and said the house blew up.”

Police are talking with another person that may be involved.

We have no word on the cause or the extent of the injuries.

This is a breaking news story, and updates will be posted as they become available.
