CLYDE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 17-year-old is accused of driving erratically after his pickup truck crossed the center line of a road in St. Clair County, causing a head-on crash that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child, police said.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday (April 5) in the 4700 block of North Road in Clyde Township.

Officials said they received several 911 calls from drivers who said a white pickup truck was being driven erratically on Wadhams Road, as well as in the area of North and Lightle roads.

The driver, a 17-year-old from Port Huron, was in a white 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck, according to authorities. He was heading north on North Road when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a Ford Focus that was going south, police said.

The 28-year-old woman driving the Focus was killed in the crash, as was her unborn child, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the 17-year-old was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

St. Clair County deputies are investigating the crash.
