BELLE ISLE, Mich. – A freighter ran aground in the Detroit River near Belle Isle.
Aerial video shows the Mark W. Barker freighter just feet away from the island. It ran aground before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17.

Officials from the U.S. Coast Guard said the freighter lost propulsion and is stuck in mud. The freighter was hauling salt.
No additional details have been revealed.
