GARDEN CITY, Mich. – A man accused of kidnapping and murdering a Detroit nurse returned to court Monday to face 14 charges in a separate case.
Nurse kidnapped, killed
Jamere Miller, 36, is accused of kidnapping Patrice Wilson, 29, around 7:40 a.m. May 13 from the parking lot of Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Officials said Miller went to the hospital in a blonde wig and forced Wilson into her car at gunpoint. Wilson’s mother said the two used to date, but that her daughter was “trying to get away from him.”
Wilson’s body was found the next day in the trunk of an SUV outside her Novi apartment complex. Police said she had been fatally shot.
Miller was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, carjacking, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and five felony firearm violations.
Second case
On Monday, July 3, Miller appeared at 21st District Court in Garden City on charges in a separate case. He is facing 14 counts on accusations that drugs and guns were found in his apartment.
He’s charged with delivering/manufacturing cocaine, delivering/manufacturing methamphetamine, delivering/manufacturing less than 50 grams of cocaine, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of felon in possession of ammunition, and seven felony firearm violations.
An undercover Van Buren Township officer who specializes in drug busts said Miller’s apartment was searched on April 5.
“During the search of the residence, what was located was narcotics, firearms, ammunition,” the officer said.
Police said they found a 9 mm Glock 19 and a .45-caliber Glock 30 inside the home. One gun was in a closet and the other was in a bedroom dresser drawer.
They also confiscated suspected methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine, as well as miscellaneous pills, according to authorities. The undercover officer said a bag of suspected drugs was found on the kitchen counter.
Judge Richard Hammer, Jr. said there’s enough probable cause to bind Miller over to the Wayne County Circuit Court.
The next court date is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 10.
