MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Storms with strong winds blew through Metro Detroit on Tuesday, causing damage to trees and power lines in the area.
Macomb County was hit particularly hard by Tuesday’s winds, with several downed trees and downed power lines reported.
Local 4′s Tim Pamplin stopped in New Baltimore, Chesterfield Township, and in Ira Township in St. Clair County to survey reports of damages. He discovered several trees that had fallen on top of buildings and roadways, with police blocking off multiple roads so they could be cleared of any hazard.

It does not appear that any injuries or structural damage were reported after the storm. However, damage to trees and power lines did cause some power outages across Macomb County, and those outages persisted on Wednesday for some.
As of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, DTE Energy reported that over 8,400 customers were without power. According to their map, most of those outages were concentrated in northern Macomb County, with some in Oakland County.
New Baltimore and Shelby Township appeared to have the most, around 1,000 outages in each area, as of 7:30 a.m. Chesterfield Township, Rochester and Novi also had more concentrated outages.

More potentially severe storms are forecast for the area on Wednesday, though the primary concerns this time are excessive rainfall and flooding. Heavy and widespread showers are expected to pick up in the afternoon, and last through the night into early Thursday.
